Overall Function

The Senior Software Engineer will be part of a Delivery and Services Unit that will report to either a Software Development Manager or the Project Manager overseeing the assigned project. This role is responsible for leading the development efforts, managing a team of developers, delegating tasks, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work. The candidate will collaborate closely with customer counterparts, the product analyst team, and the testing team to create high-quality software based on established specifications, while also contributing to other technical aspects necessary for the successful delivery and acceptance of a software project.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in gathering requirements and create the necessary technical and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with the Solution Architect to analyse and design code structures and modifications based on finalised requirements.
• Lead a team of developers, assign tasks, and ensure timely and high-quality work delivery.
• Establish and enforce best practices such as proper documentation, code quality, merge control, and unit testing.
• Provide technical support to the Project Manager and act as the primary point of contact for customers or external vendors (e.g., penetration testers, auditors).
• Assist the Project Manager in developing work breakdown structures and estimating efforts.
• Perform code development and system testing based on the provided requirements.
• Ensure all work aligns with coding standards, security protocols, and corporate procedures.
• Oversee quality assurance activities, including unit testing, system testing, and code reviews, ensuring they meet professional standards.
• Participate in system integration testing and coordinate the team to assist the Test Team in addressing any issues.
• Organise the team to provide support during customer acceptance testing (such as SIT, UAT, Performance Testing, Volume Testing, Security Testing, Operational Readiness Testing), and assist with cutover and post-cutover activities.
• Contribute to the creation of training materials and deliver presentations.

Requirements

• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid technical background with 5-8 years of hands-on experience in Java, J2EE, SQL/PLSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, and XML; Oracle knowledge is a bonus.
• Proficient in web technologies, including HTML5, CSS, modular design, Angular (5 & above), Bootstrap, React, and open-source JavaScript frameworks.
• Experienced in developing and working with RESTful APIs, Spring 5.x, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Security, cloud technologies, and microservices, along with messaging middleware such as Kafka, IBM MQ, or Solace.
• Knowledgeable in running applications on container platforms like Docker, OpenShift, and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with managing batch jobs using Autosys.
• Experience in developing and deploying applications within the AWS cloud environment is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of tools such as JIRA, Git, and Bitbucket.

• Experience or familiarity with the financial industry or payment systems is a plus.
